David Skinner is an independent training
consultant. He originally trained as a chemist, carrying out research
into the structure of wool, for which he received a PhD. He also holds
an Advanced Diploma in Educational Management from the Open University,
and is a Chartered MCIPD.
David had a 28-year career as an education and training officer in the
RAF in a variety of roles. Highlights of his RAF career included: three
years running an adult education centre at a large flying station in
Germany; two years as a member of the directing staff of the Combined
Staff College in Kaduna, Nigeria; and a two-year appointment as Director
of Studies of the Individual Studies School at the RAF Staff College,
Bracknell. He also worked in the Ministry of Defence as part of a team
which formulated education and training policy for the RAF. His last
appointment was as Head of the RAF Resettlement Service.
He is now Director of Garsdale Training Ltd, a management training
company based in Newbury, Berkshire. His specialisations include
business communication skills (business writing, report writing,
presentation skills, effective meetings, interviewing skills, train the
trainer), general management skills (time management, customer care) and
career and personal development, including outplacement training and
counselling.
David has designed and delivered training projects for a wide variety of
clients, including Ashley Homes, Department of Trade and Industry, Eagle
Star, Eversheds Solicitors, Gloucestershire County Council, Jones Lang
LaSalle, Manchester Airport plc, Mitsubishi Colt Car Company, Smith's
Industries, Sony (UK) Ltd and Unipart. He has also delivered open
courses for several training organisations and worked as an assessor on
a major KPMG training contract for the financial services industry.
He is a keen exponent of Accelerated Learning, ensuring that his training
workshops use your organisation's own materials and scenarios, appeal to
all learning styles, and are relevant, interactive, memorable and fun.
He has two daughters, one of whom lives in France, and his interests
include travelling, cricket and advanced driving.
